Description: Ohio Sandstone is a fine-grained sandstone from the Scioto Formation in Southern Ohio. It’s tight grain structure and clean appearance distinguishes it from other fabricated sandstones. There are two colors of this stone: Buff (a yellowish brown) and Blue (a grayish blue). Ohio Sandstone is easily carved for custom detailing and keeps a crisp detail edge. Characteristics: Compressive Strength: Dry perp 28 468 psi Modulus of Rupture: Perp to bed 1,968 psi Absorption: 5.23% Bulk Specific Gravity: 2.24 Density: 144 lbs/cubic ft. Applications: Ohio Sandstone is often used for building detailing such as sills, lintels, quoins and coping.
